WB Moves Spike Jonze's 'Her' to December/January Awards Release
Briefly: Warner Bros is shifting the date for Spike Jonze's new film Her, starring Joaquin Phoenix with Scarlett Johansson as the voice of his Operating System. The original release was November 20th before Thanksgiving. Now, WB will release the film in select theaters starting December 18th (in New York, Los Angeles & Toronto) before going wide January 10th, 2014 a few days before the Oscar nominations on the 15th. They're planning a strong awards push for the film (watch the trailer) after it premieres at the New York Film Festival this fall. WB's President of Distribution Dan Fellman says: "Spike Jonze has created an unconventional love story that is thought-provoking and reflective of our modern age." I can't wait to see it.
