Holy Ghost People Trailer

"I was wondering if I could join your church." What in the heck? A trailer has debuted for a film playing at SXSW this month called Holy Ghost People, directed by one of "The Butcher Brothers." It's kind of a wilder cult horror-thriller about a girl, played by Emma Greenwell, who goes looking for her sister and ends up at the "Church of One Accord" in the mountains, a snake handling creep town where shit gets crazy real quick. I can't even call this a crazier Martha Marcy May Marlene because it looks like it goes different places, but damn. Also stars Joe Egender, Brendan McCarthy, Cameron Richardson, Don Harvey.

Watch the first SXSW promo trailer for Mitchell Altieri's Holy Ghost People, originally from Deadline:

Synopsis from the SXSW line-up: On the trail of her missing sister, Charlotte (Emma Greenwell) enlists the help of Wayne (Brendan McCarthy), an ex-Marine and alcoholic, to infiltrate the Church of One Accord – an Appalachian community of snake-handlers who risk their lives seeking salvation in the Holy Ghost.

Holy Ghost People is directed by Mitchell Altieri, making his solo debut after working with Phil Flores as The Butcher Brothers on April Fool's Day, The Violent Kind, The Thompsons. The screenplay was written by Kevin Artigue & Joe Egender & Mitchell Altieri & Phil Flores. The film is premiering at SXSW this month.
