Why We Can't Have Nice Things: 'A Haunted House 2' is on the Way

Following in the footsteps of the horror films parodied, a sequel to the spoof A Haunted House, featuring Scary Movie franchise starter Marlon Wayans, has been picked up by Open Road Films (via Twitter). Though the film only made just over $40 million at the box office, that was on a budget of $2.5 million, so it's a success, and surely there's more milk in that dying cow that we can drain out of it. The only cast member confirmed to return is Marlon Wayans (who also co-wrote the film), and considering it's a parody, it's not like it really matters what happened in the first film since the sequel will just make stupid jokes.
The original film was a parody of the Paranormal Activity franchise, which has a fifth installment coming sometime this year, but we're hoping this doesn't last as long as the horror series that is starting to overstay its welcome. Wayans and Essence Atkins played a newly married couple who deal with spirits in their house, and it allowed for a bunch of sex and fart jokes, along with slapstick humor. Nick Swardson, David Koechner, Cedric the Entertainer, Bobbie Lee and others appeared in the film, so expect more subpar comedians, or the same ones, to show up for this sequel.
