'2001: A Space Odyssey' Gets a Gorgeous Trailer for UK Re-Release
We're waiting patiently for the arrival of Interstellar, the latest film from director Christopher Nolan (Inception, The Dark Knight trilogy), and we can't wait to see the film's IMAX footage, which clocks in at over an hour. Nolan recently compared the film to Stanley Kubrick's sci-fi classic 2001: A Space Odyssey, and audiences in the United Kingdom will get a chance to compare them perfectly on the big screen since the 1968 film is getting re-released in theaters. And to promote the film's return to the big screen, a gorgeous new trailer has arrived that will have you wanting to see this film again now. Watch it!
Here's the trailer for the United Kingdom re-release of 2001: A Space Odyssey from BFI:
2001: A Space Odyssey is written and directed by the late iconic filmmaker Stanley Kubrick (The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, Dr. Strangelove, Lolita, Barry Lyndon, Eyes Wide Shut). Now the philosophically ambitious, technically innovative and visually stunning cinematic milestone returns to cinemas in the United Kingdom this fall as part of Sci-Fi: Days of Fear and Wonder. It's been 46 years since the film hit theaters, and it's still one of the most mesmerizing, challenging sci-fi films ever. After audiences across the pond see Interstellar on November 7th, they can check out 2001: A Space Odyssey on November 28th.

The movie that almost singlehandedly made me want to make movies.

I'd like to watch the 17 minutes of lost footage found several years ago. Perhaps not in cinemas but as some kind of extra in a future BRD release.

One of the best films ever made and THE BEST sci-fi film ever made.

I hope they bring it to the US. I want to see it in a theater too!

Bad fucking ass! Such effortless genius. So many other movies, that we think are great, look bad in comparison. And that's an amazingly cut trailer.

Whose idea was it to include the most unsettling, iconic line in cinema "I'm afraid I can't do that Dave" in the trailer? It totally destroys the film for anyone who hasn't seen it. Kubrick, who was meticulous about what went into his trailers, would have been furious. This trailer needs to be changed.

Anyone know where I can see this in a theater in California this month (December)? The only way I can cleanse Interstellar from my brain is to see 2001. Please help me.
