'24' Movie is Still Kicking Around Following Successful Series Revival
This past summer, fans of the action thriller series 24 were treated to a revival of the Fox show in the form of "24: Live Another Day," a limited series return of Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer. And it turns out the success and reception of the shorter season has resulted in renewed interest in making the long-gestating big screen adaptation of the series finally happen. Director Antoine Fuqua was once attached to the project, but last year he said it was dead in the water, and that was after it had been delayed from the previous year (and several times before that). But now Imagine Entertainment seems keen on making it happen again.
TV Line has learned that Imagine's Brian Grazer has a pitch that's being prepared, but it hasn't been brought to 20th Century Fox yet. That sounds like it might be completely different from whatever was being planned before. Of course, since "24: Live Another Day" did so well, and had an open-ended finale, we're not sure why Fox wouldn't just continue the new shorter season instead of bringing it to the big screen. Before the series revival hit TV, Sutherland said, "The film’s an ongoing situation. There’s always an opportunity to do that.” Well, considering how things have gone previously, we won't hold our breath.
Hijacking the topic, I hope to hear about Sutherland being cast in the MGS movie soon.

I really dug the rebooted series. I really thought it was pretty fun, albeit most definitely 24. I still don't think the movie is good idea. Just do another season of the distilled version.

Will they just let this movie project die already! It's over you guys had your chance to do it. Just continue with new shorter seasons.

I can't see a 24 movie pulling in too many dollars.
