Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

With the super-sized, R-rated version of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues hitting theaters tomorrow, Adam McKay was asked by Empire about the possibility of Ron Burgundy returning yet again. And while many filmmakers would probably play coy or leave it open-ended for another film, McKay thinks Ron Burgundy is finished. The director said, "It was great to do it and it was so fun to work with those guys again, but I think that’s it for Ron Burgundy. There’s nothing more fun to me than new characters and a new world. And now we’re releasing this alt version, we’re totally satisfied. No Anchorman 3.” More below!

And if you're holding out hope for McKay to do another sequel, like maybe Step Brothers 2 as many have wanted, he added, "No, that’s the last sequel we’re gonna do." That doesn't mean McKay couldn't be inspired down the road, but a Step Brothers sequel seemed like a reach anyway. And when it comes to comedy sequels they're hard to do. After all, Anchorman 2 took 10 years to hit theaters, and it didn't live up to the anticipated for many (though it likely never could have). We'll just have to enjoy the R-rated cut of Anchorman 2 while it's in theaters for a week and the Blu-Ray & DVD with more goodies on April 1st.

In other words what Adam Mckay is really saying, "I simply ran out of ideas". Anchorman 2 sucks and am glad it's over. It was fun while it lasted years ago with all the stupid internet memes.

Hell the cultural impact that the first film had while great was quickly ran into the ground by we the fans...not really the films fault...imo.

Hmm seemed like the last half of the movie was built for a part 3. Eh not a big deal regardless.

I'm glad. I was so excited for 2, but it just fell flat. Still love McKay and Ferrell, and look forward to whatever they do next, but its good this has been put to rest.
