AMC Reveals 'Unlimited Ticket' to Rewatch 'Interstellar' Over & Over

November 17, 2014

Here's to all the crazy ones. AMC Theatres and Paramount have announced a special ticket for Interstellar called the "unlimited ticket". Yes, it's exactly as it sounds, giving viewers the chance to get an unlimited viewing ticket for Christopher Nolan's epic sci-fi spectacular Interstellar (Sound Off here) at participating AMC theatres. That's the other catch - you have to be an AMC Stubs member, but there is good news if you already are one. "All AMC Stubs members who have already purchased a ticket to the movie can upgrade for $14.99." As odd as it sounds, the full price varies per location and theater if you need an entire unlimited ticket, ranging from $19.99 to $34.99. It might be worth it if you really, truly do love Interstellar that much.

Here's the main quote from the press release regarding just how unprecedented this kind of ticket deal is:

"Christopher Nolan has created a masterpiece that movie fans are saying gets better every time they see it," said Elizabeth Frank, executive vice president and chief content and programming officer, AMC Theatres. "The Interstellar Unlimited Ticket gives these fans an opportunity to experience the spectacular cinematography and heart-warming stories as many times as they would like – at any AMC location, any showtime, in any format, including IMAX."

The press release does indeed say that this Unlimited Ticket allows "AMC's loyal moviegoers to see the film as many times as they'd like for one price." It's half of a promo to get more movie fans into AMC Stubs as much as it is a cool way to see Interstellar as much as you want. They add: "A commemorative Interstellar pass will be issued, which can be used at any AMC location playing the film. While the ticket is unlimited, quantities are not, and guests are encouraged to get their Unlimited Ticket while supplies last." If you're a Stubs member already, you get the best deal for $14.99, but if you happen to be near a theater offering one of these for $19.99, go for it. Here in New York City, we can't even see it once (in IMAX) for less than $20.

Nolan's Interstellar starring Matthew McConaughey was released wide on November 7th, starting a few days early in 70mm IMAX. The response seems to be divisive but at least it's playing strong at the theater, especially with more praise like this review from M.G. Siegler. Is anyone planning to get one of these?

Yeah Just watched it for the 8th time last night. One of the best SciFi films ever made. And surpassed 2001 for me. So yeah I would say it is easily a masterpiece
