Following an Oscar nomination for American Hustle last year, Amy Adams is lining up another sci-fi project as she waits for Batman vs. Superman to begin shooting later this year for the pushed back release in the summer of 2016 where the film will face-off with Captain America 3. Deadline reports Adams is in early talks to star in Story of Your Life, a new film from Prisoners and Enemy director Denis Villeneuve and writer Eric Heisserer (the remake of The Thing and A Nightmare on Elm Street) we learned about in January. The thriller takes place on Earth after alien spacecrafts have landed around the world. Read on!
Adams would play an expert linguist who is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or intend on destroying us. It sounds like a single scene in a larger sci-fi alien invasion movie, but as she learns to communicate with the aliens, she begins experiencing vivid flashbacks which may hold the key to unlocking the greater mystery about the true purpose of their visit to our homeworld. The story is based on the book of the same name, a short story by Ted Chiang from a collection called Stories of Your Life and Others. With the exception of Man of Steel, this would be Adams first straight-up sci-fi film, and Villeneuve is in virgin territory with this genre too, so we're definitely excited to see how this turns out.

The recent Thing 'remake' was a prequel of John Carpenter's 'original' which was the only actual remake.
