Angelina Jolie Spreads Wings as 'Maleficent' in New Teaser & Banner

March 17, 2014

"All the other fairies fly, why don't you?" Following a couple new posters for the Disney villain tale Maleficent, we have a new banner and teaser poster taking flight with Angelina Jolie spreading her wings as the Sleeping Beauty sorceress. The banner just shows off the impressive wingspan, but the new teaser gives us even more background information of how Maleficent came to be so evil, and it might have something to do with someone stealing her wings. While I'm concerned this will turn out like another bland revision in the vein of Snow White and the Huntsman, hopefully Jolie will make this work. Watch and see!

Here's the new teaser for Robert Stromberg's Maleficent, straight from Disney:

And here's the new banner featuring Angelina Jolie and her wings from Empire:

Come back tomorrow for the second full length trailer for Disney's Maleficent.

Robert Stromberg (a production designer on Alice in Wonderland and Avatar) is making his directorial debut with Maleficent from a script written by Linda Woolverton (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast). Angelina Jolie plays the title villain from the classic Disney film Sleeping Beauty in this live-action spin that also stars Sharlto Copley (District 9), Elle Fanning (Super 8), Sam Riley (On the Road), Imelda Staunton (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), Juno Temple (Atonement) and more. Disney sends Maleficent to theaters everywhere in 3D on May 30th, 2014 this summer. Visit the film's official website. Excited?

Those cheekbones are awful....

TheOct8pus on Mar 17, 2014

@TheOct8pus:disqus They are prosthetic cheeks for Angelina Jolie's role as Maleficent.

Sean...seriously? You again? Fine. I will accept that you love those ridiculous each their own. But tell me something: do you work for Disney, or for the production team that made this movie? You seem to be plugging it every chance you get.

TheOct8pus on Mar 18, 2014

@TheOct8pus:disqus I did not say that I love the prosthetic cheeks but they are on her for role as Maleficent, because the animated version of Maleficent from the Sleeping Beauty movie has cheeks that look like them. No, I don't work for Disney or the production team.

I like those raven wings. Glad they went with those instead of scaly dragon-esque wings.

@Ethan_Anderton:disqus No worries. This movie will be nothing like that awful snow White and the Huntsman movie. In fact, Snow White and the Huntsman wishs it looked as good as Maleficent does, lol.
