Now that Captain America: The Winter Soldier is in theaters, people who caught the Marvel sequel already are looking forward to the next few films in their cinematic universe. After all, the first credits scene (yes, there's two) teases a couple new characters in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, so that's pretty exciting. But after our heroes assemble for another battle to save the world, we have Phase Three kicking off with Ant-Man from director Edgar Wright in the same year. Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas are leading the film as two different versions of the hero, and Deadline reports Matt Gerald will play a bad guy. Read on!

You may not recognize that name, but Gerald (who can also be seen in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Avatar, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and Escape Plan) recently appeared in the Marvel One-Shot All Hail the King, which focused on Ben Kingsley's actor character Trevor Slattery as he spends time in prison for cavorting with the real Mandarin in Iron Man 3. In the film, Gerald played a character credited as White Power Dave, and you can see him in this clip from the Marvel short (from the Thor: The Dark World Blu-Ray and DVD):

It's not clear if he'll reprise this role in Ant-Man somehow, but several comic book fans online have recalled that the villain Whirlwind from the Ant-Man comics is named David Cannon. In the comics, Whirlwind uses his powers to commit crimes like petty theft and more. However, Dr. Henry Pym thwarted him (though as Giant-Man) along with Wasp. Ant-Man has been described as a heist film, so while this same comic plot may not be used, if White Power Dave is also David Cannon, then he could also be some version of the thieving Whirlwind, even if he doesn't have superpowers. Maybe White Power Dave is in prison because of Ant-Man? We'll have to see how the timeline works out and if Gerald is even playing the same character.

Anyway, Gerald joins an impressive cast that, in addition to Rudd and Douglas, also includes Michael Peña, Evangeline Lilly, Patrick Wilson, and Non-Stop star Corey Stoll. The film follows Scott Lang (Rudd), who steals the Ant-Man technology from Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) in order to commit some sort of heist. But Lang ends up being on the right side of the law eventually for an unknown reason. We don't have word on what characters any of these stars are playing with the exception of our two leads who play the hero in different time periods, but with production nearing, we're hoping to get more details soon. Thoughts?

Such a good bad guy. He just looks like such an asshole.

All Hail the King really redeemed Iron man 3 and I'm glad they fixed their mistake with such an iconic villain.
