Anthony Mackie Also Finds John Hillcoat's 'Triple Nine' Heist Drama
Following news that Woody Harrelson has replaced Christoph Waltz in John Hillcoat's gestating heist drama Triple Nine, another cast member has been added to the already impressive ensemble. Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Winslet, Aaron Paul, Gal Gadot and Teresa Palmer are all part of the cast, and now Anthony Mackie is in talks to join the projects set up at Open Road Films. The trade doesn't mention Michael B. Jordan as part of the cast, so we're wondering if his schedule for the reboot of Fantastic Four means he can't do this film after all. Either way, this cast is still full of some amazing talent. Read on!
The story follows a group of thieves who plan to kill a young LAPD officer to divert the police away from a daring heist they’re perpetrating across town. The title refers to the code used when a police officer needs assistance. Chiwetel Ejiorfor is the leader of the gang but in his team of thieves was supposed to be Michael B. Jordan as a street-wise cop who ends up partnering with Affleck to set up the ringleader. This could be the role Mackie has taken, but Variety doesn't clarify his part. Anyway, audiences will see him in action soon enough with a role as a superhero sidekick in Captain America: The Winter Soldier next month.
