'Attack the Block' Star John Boyega Also Up for 'Terminator: Genesis'

John Boyega / Miles Dyson

Earlier this month, a report said the search for a male lead in Star Wars: Episode VII had been narrowed down to just five actors, including Attack the Block star John Boyega. However, the rising star is also up for another big blockbuster with Borys Kit of THR reporting that Boyega is also being sought for a supporting role in Terminator: Genesis. And unlike the role that J.K. Simmons was recently reported to take, this one has roots in Terminator mythology since the role is the son of Miles Dyson, the Cyberdyne executive forced to help destroy the Terminator arm and CPU that would make the company a future threat.

Dyson's son was seen briefly in Terminator: Judgment Day when Sarah Connor attempts to kill Miles Dyson, but is intercepted by John Connor and the T-800 Terminator. After telling Dyson the story of the future war, they decide to destroy the technology that would spawn the threat that destroys humanity. It seems a little convenient that Dyson's son would become an integral part of the story as he ages, but if the talk of time travel from Arnold Schwarzenegger creates an alternate timeline, then things might be a little different. But Boyega won't be able to do Terminator and Star Wars so stay tuned to see what role he takes.
