Bill Murray Signs Up for Disney's 'The Jungle Book' as the Bear Baloo
by Ethan Anderton
August 1, 2014
Disney just recently revealed that Christopher Walken and Giancarlo Esposito had landed two more of the animal roles in Disney's new live-action take on The Jungle Book. Now another impressive name has been added to the cast in a perfect role. The House of Mouse has just announced via press release that the iconic funnyman and all-around stellar Bill Murray act as the voice of Baloo the bear, a friend of Mowgli. The boy raised in the jungle is set to be played by newcomer Neel Sethi as the only human character on-screen in the film. Honestly, this is about the best cast you could ask for with a film like this. Read on!
Jon Favreau is directing the film with a script by Justin Marks, and the rest of the cast has been confirmed to include Idris Elba as the tiger Shere Khan, Scarlett Johansson as the python Kaa and Lupita Nyong'o as Rakcha, the mother wolf who adopts the orphaned Mowgli in the jungle and Ben Kingsley as Bagheera the black panther. The recently cast Walken and Esposito are playing King Louie and Akela respectively. That seems to cover all of the major animal roles, but there might be some other actors that join the film before production begins later this year. Disney will release The Jungle book on October 9th, 2015.
