After starring in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, superstar Brad Pitt is returning to World War II territory with David Ayer's Fury coming to theaters later this fall. But apparently he's not done with his interest in one of the biggest wars in world history as Deadline reports Pitt has his eye on a currently untitled romantic thriller set in WWII with Eastern Promises writer Steven Knight behind the script, and The Town producer Graham King and his GK Films banner producer. The film doesn't yet have a distributor, but Pitt is still in serious talks to star, and an unnamed big director is supposed to be set soon.
Unfortunately, there aren't any plot details for the film, but the fact that it's a romantic thriller gives us a hint that it will be different from his previous WWII projects. Fury will see Pitt as a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy who commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew (Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Pena and Jon Bernthal) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany. Meanwhile, Knight has his real-time thriller Locke starring Tom Hardy hitting theaters this year too. We'll let you know when more information on their new WWII project arrives.
