Guardians of the Galaxy

Before Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters, we highlighted an extensive video that pointed out pretty much all of the Marvel easter eggs that had popped up in the comic book studio's cinematic universe up through Thor: The Dark World (since Captain America: The Winter Soldier isn't out on home video yet). And while no one has the convenience of watching Guardians of the Galaxy at home to notice these easter eggs, Mr. Sunday (via SlashFilm) has taken the time to point out some of the fun references in the film that viewers have noticed and director James Gunn and producer Kevin Feige have confirmed. Watch below!

Here's the video showing off easter eggs from Guardians of the Galaxy from Mr. Sunday:

Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn (Slither, Super). Brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits — Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to join his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand. Marvel Studios released the film on August 1st. See it now!

Thanks for the spoilers regarding Quill's father, asshole.

Tim Carter on Aug 14, 2014

7

The writer/director said that who Quill's father is in the comics is not who it will be in the films.

Video begins with "Obviously huge GOTG spoilers will follow!" Anyone that's not a dumb internet troll is able to determine if they keep watching they WILL get additional info. Who even goes online, looks up an Easter egg video then watches it if they didn't want to know additional details on the film??!! Btw it's most likey Adam Warlock (currently in a cacconed state) who is Peters father in the film, your welcome!

Three things here...first (and this should be obvious) with all the datam that the internet gives someone access to some personal responsibility needs to be practiced when researching a film they wish to remain ignorant about...and second...since when did "spoilers" become such a big thing? Surely you go to the movies for experience that extends beyond and not exclusively from "suprise" if the only thing you ever feel or think about when seeing a film was "oh wow glad I didn't know that kevin spacey was in this" then maybe movies just aren't for you. Lastly...its a cameo from a last tier comicbook character with a single line after the movie that in no way affects the plot. This is firmly in the "not spoiler" territory.

Yeah, I think it's YOU that's the asshole here.

Howard the Duck was 1986, not 1996, and Cosmo was seen exiting the bar as well as the mentioned post credits scene, never in one of the collector's cages (as Cosmo is actually the head of security for Knowhere). Gotta get those facts straight. 😛

Gaudeamus on Aug 14, 2014

12

Actually cosmo was in one of the collector's cages, the camera pans past him in it, I believe when they first arrived

Scandal!

Gaudeamus on Aug 14, 2014

14

He WAS in a cage. They walk by and Cosmo and Rocket kind of growl at each other for a second.

Vash Crowley on Aug 16, 2014

15

I stand corrected. 🙂

Gaudeamus on Aug 16, 2014

16

LOL... s'all good. All it takes is one glance away from the screen to miss it.

Vash Crowley on Aug 16, 2014

17

Yeah, I def missed it. Guess that's just one more reason to see it again! XD

Gaudeamus on Aug 16, 2014

18

yes he was in the cage when they first was walking thru the collectors place you are right Vash.

anakin12 on Aug 31, 2014

You can see Howard Sitting in his cage on the upper right hand of the screen when the assistant is introducing the Collector.

While Nova (Richard Rider) himself doesn't actually make an appearance, the Nova Corps is featured and plays quite a prominent role. Thought that would be quite worth mentioning.

Video removed. Can you do it with screenshots?

Has anyone noticed the scene when the guardians ship arrives into Knowwhere, it is almost a direct copy from the Heavy Metal movie? In Heavy Metal, there was a smilely face space ship that flies into a space station with what appears to be the same structures in place. Not sure if it was intended or an homage, but really cool if I'm correct... Loved the movie BTW!!!

I'm still wondering whether part of the Howard the Duck joke was... Ronan the Accuser Drax the Destroyer Korath the Pursuer Howard the ... Duck?

I am just wondering where the Easter Eggs were? Since Easter Eggs are Hidden and you have to Do something to find them... These were just scenes in the movie... Not Easter Eggs...
