It's the annual cinephile challenge - trying to impress your friends by recalling all 85 of the Best Picture Oscar winners of past right as we get close to this year's Academy Awards. Can you do it? To help you on your quest, a new infographic has surfaced for 2014 profiling all 85 of the previous Best Picture winners as circular icons. It presents a particularly sleek look at each of the winners, making us think a bit differently about some of them. Perhaps some are the best way to identify the film. Whatever the case, it's a good way to get us in the Oscar mood as we near the big ceremony this weekend. There's even a look at 2013's noms.
Here's the full infographic, made by Beutler Ink and found by the folks at ShortList via The Playlist. Look:
Thanks again to ShortList for the tip. "Beutler Ink celebrates the 2014 Oscars with a poster commemorating each of the past 85 Best Picture winners. See how many movies you can recognize from the icon alone." This art definitely reminds me of Olly Moss' take on the Best Picture poster last year featuring the statues all posed in a stance that is indicative of the film/winner. Looking through this, the ones that really stick out to me are: obviously Gone with the Wind in 1939, because it's so colorful during the b&w era, the arm from The Best Years of Our Lives in 1946 looks like an Elysium prop, nice camel for Lawrence of Arabia in 1962, the creepy couch girl is Gigi from 1958, I dig the bowl for Oliver! in 1968, same with the lobster for Annie Hall in 1977, The Godfather in 1972 and The Godfather: Part II in 1974 are both pretty damn good. Favorites?

The broken glasses are from the first Godfather, why are they the symbol of Godfather part II?
