The Equalizer

Following the first trailer last month, a more informative theatrical trailer for Antoine Fuqua's thriller The Equalizer has arrived. This time we get a much more thorough portrait of Denzel Washington's character, and the lengths he goes to in order to deliver justice while trying to maintain a normal life. Of course he has a friendship with a prostitute who seems to have heart of gold (Chloe Moretz), but because of her, he now has to deal with the Russian mob, after mistakenly killing five of their members, thinking they were just pimps. This looks pretty intense, and the buzz has been solid for the film well. Watch below!

Here's the latest trailer for Antoine Fuqua's The Equalizer straight from Sony Pictures:

The Equalizer is directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Shooter, Olympus Has Fallen) and written by Richard Wenk (The Expendables 3, The Mechanic). Denzel Washington plays McCall, a former black ops commando who has faked his death to live a quiet life in Boston. When he comes out of his self-imposed retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), he finds himself face to face with ultra-violent Russian gangsters. As he serves vengeance against those who brutalize the helpless, McCall's desire for justice is reawakened. If someone has a problem, the odds are stacked against them, and they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer. Columbia opens the film in theaters September 26th.

Don't like the music in this trailer. I was with it until about halfway when that song came in. I prefer the previous trailer more. Denzel seemed a lot more threatening in that one. The music was harsher, and overall the tone was more ominous, I hope that's the case with the movie. I'm still interested though.

Absolutely agreed on the music front. Totally detracted from what should otherwise be an excellent trailer - the previous trailer is miles better for that exact reason. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to over-dub something that sounds just like every wretched boy band that sings :"Look at us we're so hard... but we sound like a bunch of pathetic wankers" ? The awesome spirit of Edward Woodward would be angry! Grr.

It's a Denzel Washington action movie directed by the guy who did Training Day, of course it's going to be entertaining and fun! Only thing that worries me is the script writer on this project.

Oh Denzel, I will always be a sucker for any movie where you play Mr. Bad-Ass. I'm in for sure.

What makes this The Equalizer? Does that title sell it? Couldn't it just be a new movie that isn't another remake? Looks pretty good either way... but Hollywood's so fucking broken.

I don't think you know one thing about hollywood to say they're broken? Have you ever worked for a production company? Fox, Universal? Have you ever been in a board room when they decide what to make and what happens in a movie? It takes a lot of thought and patience to write a movie. Its taken a year and a half for me to write 70 pages and it's still not done. Movies aren't just thought up and banged out quickly like people think. You may think it is but it isn't. I'm tired of people acting like they know all about these companies and acting like they know how they work. You all don't unless you've worked there. I'm not saying I know how they work, but I know enough about writing a script to know that it isn't easy and you all act like it is and can make a totally better movie

I know what you mean Steve, the film making process is slow, painfully slow sometimes, unless you work in commercials or something with better deadlines. I think Jonathan has a point about the constant need for reboots in Hollywood, it is a bit lazy, but maybe in some ways the audience is lazy too. This yearI've been learning title design and motion graphics for short films and have found the film making process so time consuming in comparison with the painting and drawing I usually do as a job. Edits take so long to fix and timing is a pain for animations, but in the end, it feels like magic when you watch it all play back. I can't really comment on script writing, I do imagine it's hard and wish you good luck with it, hopefully the more you do the faster the process will become. I've found in working on short films and doing title sequences that so much compromise is made, just due to time constraints, so I imagine the movie business is the same. i wish there was more hours in the day. 🙂

Do I? Is that how we're 'all' acting? Clearly you know less about me than I know about Hollywood...which makes you just as guilty of criticizing a topic on which you're ignorant. I don't speak for everyone and I don't care what you're tired of. There are way too many reboots and remakes coming out of that end of the industry and all that time, stress and effort you spoke of should result in a better product...especially considering the price of movie tickets. You're right, I can't make a better movie but I can criticize anyway since I'm their audience and it's my money they're asking for. But it was a nice rant...even though you chose a laughable venue for it. Good luck with your Godfather remake script.

Another "Full trailer"? what the hell was the last one then? i thought that one showed way too much, not touching this one.

The song ruined it for me and I stopped watching. I understand this is just the trailer but that has to be the worst fight scene music I've ever heard. Ever.

Denzel will forever be a believable badass. He could be 70 years old and I still wouldn't doubt it when he punches someones teeth down their throat in a film.

Let's hope that music isn't in the movie...
