DreamWorks Animation Working on Another Film in 'Shrek' Franchise

Recently it was revealed that DreamWorks Animation was planning a London theme park attraction called Shrek's Far Far Away Adventure, inspired by the animated film Shrek and the film franchise that followed. Now it sounds like we might get another film to add to the pile. Fox Business (via Variety) spoke with DreamWorks founder Jeffrey Katzenberg, and he clearly hinted that another film in the Shrek franchise might be in the works. Katzenberg said, "We like to let them have a little bit of time to rest, but I think you can be confident that we’ll have another chapter in the Shrek series." Because four just wasn't enough.
Katzenberg added, "We're not finished, and more importantly, neither is he." The adventures of the ogre voiced by Mike Myers and his trusty sidekick Donkey (voice by Eddie Murphy) were clever and funny to start, but then they really got tired and lacked quality storytelling and comedy. But since Shrek Forever After pulled in over $752 million worldwide in 2010, it's no surprise that DreamWorks Animation wants to bring back the franchise. Of course, DreamWorks has plenty of original animated stories, so I don't know why they're already going back to the well, but whatever.

I liked 2 a lot better than 1, 3 around the same as 2, and I don't remember 4 too well but I think it was okay. I'm fine with this, I don't really consider Shrek to be one of those series too 'sacred' to have more sequels..

They took the "let's just throw more and more shit against the wall and see what sticks" approach.

Shrek just started getting old after 2. First 2 films were good but that's when they should seriously have stopped. Oh yeah you expect them to stop when they got all the kid fans still wanting to rush in to see em no matter how stupid and retarded they get. Why don't they make the new Shrek movie live action/CGI hybrid while at it or cross it over with the Smurfs come on get more silly ideas I can create a list of many more.

No... Why? Only the first 2 were good, actually they were awesome, then they went completely bad.

Myers needs a paycheck. I don't think I've seen him since Love Guru came and went. Unless I'm forgetting something...

Well my daughter likes them! And since she is the target audience, I say go for it.
