Dwayne Johnson

Disney just recently dated their next animated project Moana for release in just under a couple years on November 23rd, 2016. As of now, all we know is the plot of the film, focusing on the title character, Moana Waialiki, a sea voyaging enthusiast, and the only daughter of a chief in a long line of navigators. During her journey she teams up with the legendary demi-god Maui to traverse the open ocean on a voyage where they will encounter enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore. But now a voice cast is finally starting to come together with The Wrap saying Dwayne Johnson is in talks now.

The wrestler turned blockbuster action star would voice the demi-god Maui, which seems like the perfect character for the man with a Samoan background. As of now, the lead role has yet to be cast, with no indication of any names in talks or testing for the role. Even Johnson is only in talks at this point with no formal deal in place. This role would be a rare turn for the actor though, since previously he only lent his voice to the 2009 sci-fi comedy Planet 51, a bit of a forgettable dud. Johnson has improved as an actor since then too, so this should be an improved performance. Stay tuned for more!

Sigh, Planet 51, but my man-love for him is so strong, do him right Disney.
