'Earth to Echo' Director Boarding 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2'
Shortly after the reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hit theaters, Paramount Pictures announced that they were putting together a sequel and it was being fast-tracked for release on June 3rd, 2016. Now Variety reports the film's director Jonathan Liebesman will not be back to direct, and the studio is now in talks with David Green, who directed this year's family friendly sci-fi adventure Earth to Echo, to be at the helm of the sequel. Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol writing duo Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are back for scripting duties, and hopefully they do a better job on the story this time. More below!
As of now, there's no word on who will return from the first film, but most of the principal cast should be back. You may not have heard a lot about Earth to Echo, since it wasn't in theaters for that long, but it's actually a decent sci-fi adventure. It shares a little too much with E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial as far as the plot and style goes, but that was fine when Super 8 came out, so you should give it a shot. This is undoubtedly a huge gig for Green to land, and maybe he can bring something new to the franchise and help make the sequel better than the mess of a reboot.
So they are just hiring another lackey to maintain Michael Bay's look.

Right?! One would think if they did better than they had thought, they'd hire someone with a bit more talent. There's plenty of young, talented directors who probably grew up on the comics or cartoons that could put some love into the film.
