Just this morning we learned that Amy Adams was in early talks to lead Story of Your Life, a new sci-fi film from Prisoners and Enemy director Denis Villeneuve. However, that project is a little further out on the filmmaker's future roster as Variety reports Villeneuve's next film will be the thriller Sicario, and Edge of Tomorrow and The Five-Year Engagement star Emily Blunt is in talks to lead the film. Though Blunt sees plenty of action (judging by the trailer) in the aforementioned sci-fi thriller starring Tom Cruise, this one sounds like a much different kind of project since it will see her throwing on a badge to play a police officer.
The film will follow Blunt as an office from Tucson, Arizona who travels across the border to Mexico with a pair of mercenaries to track down a drug lord. Knowing what Villeneuve did with the kidnapping thriller in Prisoners, we're very excited to see what he can do with a familiar scenario like this. The script comes from "Sons of Anarchy" writer Taylor Sheridan, so this sounds like a solid piece of work all around. The film is slated to shoot later this summer and then he'll move to Story of Your Life in early 2015. Otherwise, besides Edge of Tomorrow, we'll also see Blunt in the Disney musical Into the Woods this Christmas. Cool?

Villeneuve is shaping up to be one of the best dramatic directors in the biz. I am very hopeful for this one.
