First Look at 'Episode VII' Desert Set from J.J. Abrams' UNICEF Video

JJ Abrams Star Wars

Want to be in the new Star Wars movie? Here's your chance. J.J. Abrams has posted a video announcing a partnership with UNICEF to form the "Star Wars: Force for Change" and host a contest to win a chance to actually be in Star Wars: Episode VII, which just started shooting. Aside from this very exciting contest, which you can enter right here, the video was filmed on the Abu Dhabi set of Episode VII, and as far as we know, it's Tatooine. Or at least another desert planet like Tatooine, since we don't want to jump the gun. There's even an amusing alien creature who stumbles into the background midway through. Check this out!

Here's the video with J.J. Abrams for "Star Wars: Force for Change", posted on the Star Wars YouTube:

The first Star Wars: Force for Change campaign will raise funds and awareness for UNICEF's Innovation Labs and its innovative projects benefitting children in need. To support the launch of Star Wars: Force for Change, Disney has committed $1 million, and fans can now donate directly at for a chance to appear in Star Wars: Episode VII. By pledging as little as $10 through the Omaze fundraising platform, any eligible supporter will be automatically entered for a chance to win this once-in-a-lifetime experience. The campaign runs from 12:01am PST on May 21stth until 11:59pm PST July 18th. With filming underway, and the December 18th, 2015 release confirmed, it's Star Wars mania. I'm glad we're getting glimpses already.

Hopefully that muppet with the turkey cage will not appear in the movie....

Haha my thoughts exaclty. While i can appreciate the humor, it looked really lame. I know, i know dont jump the gun here. But you know we all analyze every stupid detail..Im pretty sure thats going to be wayyyy way in the background...

Loved the real puppet. Hopefully we'll see a return to some of those.

Same here. Awesome.

While I am psyched that Star Wars if finally re-employing practical effects, I assume many of the extras like the turkey puppet will be well integrated in the background and the "lead" puppets will look less muppet-like.

Even if it's not in the background, they can do amazing things with CG effects to make it less "muppet-like" as I can only cross my fingers and hope. I hope they do not go the comical looking route again as that would be a done deal for me I believe.

Based on what JJ has said in the past, hopefully he's doing away with the Jar Jar/Dexter's Diner cartoonishness....they've already created an all Ewok movie, so that's out of the picture too...

Huzzah! Here here!!!
