First Look: Tom Hanks Selling Tom Tykwer's 'Hologram for the King'

Though director Tom Tykwer's team up with Andy & Lana Wachowski on Cloud Atlas may not have turned into a box office hit, critics and those who saw it have found a fantastic sci-fi epic. Now Tom Hanks is reteaming with Tykwer for the filmmaker's latest project, A Hologram for the King. Based on Dave Eggers' bestselling book of the same name, the film follows a a struggling businessman named Alan Clay (Hanks) in a rising Saudi Arabian city as he pursues a last-ditch attempt to stave off foreclosure, pay his daughter's college tuition, and finally do something great. A Hologram for the King is written and directed by Tom Tykwer (Cloud Atlas, Run Lola Run), based on the book of the same name by Dave Eggers. The film follows Tom Hanks as a washed-up, desperate American salesman who travels to Saudi Arabia to secure the IT contract for a massive new complex being built in the middle of the desert, hoping the deal will help him prevent foreclosure on his house and pay for his daughter's college tuition. Tom Skerritt, Sarita Coudhury ("Homeland"), Omar Elba ("Intelligence") and more star in the film currently being sold at Cannes. There is no official release date set yet, so stay tuned.
