First 'Stonehearst Asylum' Trailer with Beckinsale, Kingsley & Caine
"All games must end." I suppose that's true. A trailer has debuted for an Edgar Allan Poe-inspired film called Stonehearst Asylum, originally known as Eliza Graves, referring to a character played by Kate Beckinsale. The film is being readied for release this October and to show you what it's all about they've debuted this trailer, which delves deep into a psychological mystery set at the creepy Stonehearst Asylum. The cast includes Michael Caine, Jim Sturgess, Ben Kingsley, David Thewlis, Brendan Gleeson, Jason Flemyng and Sinéad Cusack. Despite some solid names, this looks a bit too much like Shutter Island, even though I like the Poe connection. I can't really tell if it will be any good. Check it out yourself.
Here's the first official trailer for Brad Anderson's Stonehearst Asylum, originally from Yahoo:
Beckinsale, Sturgess, Gleeson, Kingsley and Caine all star in this thriller loosely based on Edgar Allan Poe's short story, "The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether." In it, a recent medical school grad who takes a position at a mental institution soon finds himself taken with one of his colleagues, though he has no initial idea of a recent, horrifying staffing change. Stonehearst Asylum, originally titled Eliza Graves, is directed by filmmaker Brad Anderson, of Happy Accidents, The Machinist and Transsiberian previously. The screenplay is written by Joe Gangemi (Wind Chill). Millennium Entertainment will release Anderson's Stonehearst Asylum in select theaters and on VOD starting on October 24th this fall. Anyone interested?
I really like Brad Anderson as a director. I was anxious to see footage of this when I heard he was making it. I have to say, it does look like it has a lot in common with Shutter Island, especially once Ben Kingsley appears. Although, when the trailer hints that the inmates are running the place with that shot of Kingsley in a straight jacket, I did get very interested.

Very nicely done! It looks like a brilliant B movie.

I am! Doesn't look like it will have a ton of scares, but it might be more suspenseful. And because Poe.
