"I want you to take a deep breath…" Scared of being stuck in a cave? Are you claustrophobic? This isn't the trailer for you. IFC Films has debuted a trailer for Ben Ketai's Beneath, not to be confused with the other Beneath horror directed by Larry Fessenden. This one is about coal miners who end up trapped after a mine collapse, and one of them is a very pretty coal miner's daughter (go figure), played by Kelly Noonan. The cast includes Jeff Fahey, Eric Etebari, Kurt Caceres, Brent Briscoe. While the synopses seem to hint there's a The Descent like creepiness in the cave, this actually just seems like a solid psychological thriller.
Here's the first official trailer for Ben Ketai's Beneath, direct from IFC (via SlashFilm):
Synopsis for Beneath from IMDb: A crew of coal miners becomes trapped 600 feet below ground after a disastrous collapse. As the air grows more toxic and time runs out, they slowly descend into madness and begin to turn on one another. Inspired by true events. Beneath is directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Ben Ketai (of 30 Days of Night: Dark Days and "Chosen"), from a screenplay co-written by Patrick Doody & Chris Valenziano. Originally premiered at Screamfest Horror Film Festival last year. IFC Films will release Beneath on VOD/digital download starting June 27th and in select theaters on July 25th. Anyone stuck?
