First Trailer for Tommy Lee Jones' Western Drama 'The Homesman'
by Ethan Anderton
April 14, 2014
The 2014 Cannes Film Festival is next month, and we'll definitely have some coverage from the overseas celebration of cinema when the time comes. As the festival gets closer, more and more films are being hinted at for a premiere in France (though Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu's Birdman with Michael Keaton won't be one of them). One film that is expected to debut at Cannes is The Homesman, which is written, produced, directed by and starring Tommy Lee Jones, and a trailer has arrived.. The cinematography and settings look gorgeous as Jones journeys from Nebraska to Iowa to transport three mentally insane women.
Here's the trailer for Tommy Lee Jones' The Homesman from YouTube (via The Film Stage):
The Homesman is written, directed and produced by Tommy Lee Jones, who also leads the film as a claim-jumping rascal of a man saved from a hanging by a pioneer woman (Hilary Swank) who has a unique request in return. The man must usher three insane women on an odyssey from Nebraska to Iowa, braving the elements and avoiding thieves, dangerous Indians and more along the way. The film also features Miranda Otto, Jesse Plemmons, Hailee Steinfeld, Tim Blake Nelson & Meryl Streep with an expected premiere at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival this summer, though no official US release date has been set yet.

I love westerns, and this one looks good. Interesting plot too. I don't want to know any more before seeing this in theaters.

Looks fantastic. And one can't complain about a somewhat clichéd cast if it's as great as it is here : P

Gonna be damn good me thinks. Plus, the world needs more Lithgow.

Even if the story were crap, I would see this for the cast alone! What a great ensemble!
