Briefly: Following news that Dermot Mulroney was joining the cast of the horror sequel Insidious: Chapter 3, the film's release has been pushed back a bit. The film was originally slated for a release in April of 2015, but instead Focus Features has revealed that the next installment of the horror franchise will arrive during blockbuster summer on May 29th, 2015. There's still no plot details or confirmation of any of the stars from the first two films returning, but franchise writer Leigh Whannell will be at the helm this time instead of James Wan. There's likely more casting news coming down the road, so stay tuned for more.

So it almost swapped with Wan's F&F7?

FF7 was supposed to open on April 10th, then moved up a week, but Insidious has been moved to the end of May. Focus Features is division of NBCUniversal....so there was likely a lot of coordinating when it came to these date shuffles. Universal moving FF7 up and Focus moving Insidious back.

I can't wait to see what Leigh does in his directing debut with his baby. But I am also going to definitely miss James Wan in the chair.
