'Forrest Gump' 20th Anniversary Re-Release on IMAX for One Week
by Ethan Anderton
July 29, 2014
As we reported way back in June, the Best Picture winner Forrest Gump was looking to celebrate its 20th anniversary with a re-release on IMAX screens starting on September 5th But at the time some specifics were missing from the announcement. Now Paramount Pictures has just cleared all that up by announcing the Robert Zemeckis film starring Tom Hanks will be exclusively re-release on IMAX screens for a one week only limited engagement. That means you'll have to hurry to see Forrest Gump on the IMAX screen for the first time, and will then be relegated to watching it whenever it's on TV, every weekend.

Won't be missing this. There were a slew of early/mid-90s movies I was too young to see on the big screen(or too young to remember if I was taken) Jurassic Park and The Lion King have both been re-released, and now Forrest Gump is getting the treatment(albeit in a limited engagement) but I cannot wait to see one of my absolute favorite films in a theater.

The snobs who hate on this film I just don't get. FOREST GUMP is a triumph in cinema. So watchable, so fun, so sad. People who have to nitpick it away into oblivion...people, what a bunch of bastards.
