Earth to Echo

After being originally slated for release this spring, Relativity Media decided to delay the Spielberg-style, found footage, sci-fi adventure Earth to Echo to a summer release. Now the full theatrical trailer for the film from short filmmaker Dave Green in his feature directing debut has arrived, and it definitely has a vibe of E.T. The Extra Terrestrial with a found footage twist. A group of friends start receiving strange, encoded messages on their cell phones, but when their parents and the authorities don't have an answer, they take matters into their own hands and discover something otherworldly that will change their lives.

Here's the full theatrical trailer for Dave Green's Earth to Echo, originally from Yahoo:

Earth to Echo is directed by Dave Green and written by Henry Gayden, both short filmmakers in their feature debut. When a group of young friends begin to receive bizarre encrypted messages on their cellphones, they embark on an incredible adventure to discover the meaning behind these communications. Soon enough, they realize that the messages they are receiving are from a mysterious being from another world -  one who desperately needs their help. Teo Halm, Brian "Astro" Bradley, Reese Hartwig and Ella Linnea Wahlestedt star in the film which Relativity Media will send to theaters on July 2nd this summer.

can't explain how BAD this looks. SUPER 8??

Frater Iacobus on Mar 19, 2014

At least Super 8 looked like a movie shot in the 80s. I am really bored of handheld movies at this point. They come across as cheap and lazy and always pull me out of the movie as I can't help but ask: "who in their right minds would keep recording at this point".

Sure Sky. I'm sure you would run around recording all the time if you were living through an alien invasion or had to run around with a camera. And I'm sure a bunch of 13 year old kids would, cause they're experienced journalists that record riots and wars. Haha.

I'm not going to lie, I'd probably record everything I can during an alien invasion, but that's just me.

when i was 13, the only thing i did was play with my video camera, so yea. We are different people, different people do different things, have you not learned that yet

Hollywood Exec: "Hey guys, I have a awesome idea, lets reboot Super 8"...round of applause around the table. /s

Plain to see it's a kid's movie. Cut it some slack.

Looks cute, but definitely not Amblin-style.
