After making a big breakthrough in TRON Legacy, actor Garrett Hedlund rode that wave to smaller films like On the Road and Inside Llewyn Davis. The actor still has to prove himself in the acting arena, and he might get another chance in the fantasy world. Deadline has word that Hedlund currently has an offer to play Captain Hook in Pan, the adaptation of the classic J.M. Barrie tale with Atonement director Joe Wright at the helm. Of course, since this is more of an origin story of Peter Pan, Hedlund likely won't be a captain, since he will actually be Pan's ally fighting against the villain Blackbeard, to be played by Hugh Jackman.
The role of Hook was previously offered to Ryan Gosling, but he turned it down. As for who Hedlund will be paired with, the studio was suppsoed to do an open casting and find a lesser known name for the role. We're not sure if this will be a child version of Peter Pan or maybe a young teen, but we'll find out whenever the character is cast. Warner Bros. already has the film set for release on July 17th, 2015, so they must be planning on this being a rather big adaptation of the tale to put it in that crowded summer. It could be the biggest take on the material since Steven Spielberg's Hook (which was more of a sequel than an adaptation). But do audiences even want a new version of Peter Pan? I guess we'll find out.

Hollywood's going to remake/reboot Peter Pan over and over and over again...but as long as they still have the big ass crocodile in it (and with more involvement in the film unlike "Hook"), that's fine by me!
