'Gore Vidal: The United States of Amnesia' Documentary First Trailer

May 6, 2014

Gore Vidal

Despite having his hand in filmmaking, literature, history, politics, theater and more, there's a chance you might not know the name Gore Vidal. A legend on the page, the man is best known for his novels and essays, frequently about America's culture, politics and history. Now everyone will get a chance to become more familiar with the man who sadly passed away in 2012. The documentary Gore Vidal: The United States of Amnesia paints a thorough and entertaining portrait of Vidal for those who are unfamiliar or may have followed him for years. It looks like a charming profile of a truly gifted, influential writer. Watch!

Here's the first trailer for Gore Vidal: The United States of Amnesia from YouTube:

No 20th century figure has had a more profound effect on the worlds of literature, film, politics, historical debate, and the culture wars than Gore Vidal. Anchored by intimate interviews with the legendary writer and commentator himself, this is a wholly entertaining portrait of the last lion of the age of American liberalism. Commentary by those who knew him best—including filmmaker/nephew Burr Steers and the late Christopher Hitchens—blends with footage from Vidal's legendary on-air career to remind us why he will forever stand as one of the most brilliant and fearless critics of our time. IFC Films releases the documentary Gore Vidal: The United States of Amnesia in limited theaters later this month on May 23rd.
