Guardians of the Galaxy

Briefly: Though Guardians of the Galaxy won't hit theaters for six days, Marvel seems to know that they already have a hit on their hands, because during their panel at Hall H today, they announced that a sequel has already been given the greenlight. A recorded message from director James Gunn, who was just reported as being set to write and direct a sequel before the official announcement, and star Chris Pratt playfully joked about revealing the news while they thought they were off-camera. And Guardians of the Galaxy 2 takes one of Marvel's previously scoped out new dates on July 28th, 2017. So there you go.

The early numbers on RT and IMDB are pretty high. They must know they have a masterpiece on their hands.

Godzilla started also with 8.6 on imbd and it was a crappy movie to begin with! It will surprise me if it going to be a big hit overhere in the Netherlands and Europe. The fanboys will see it but the people who bring in the money don't know anything of the Guardians me included. With iron man we knew the actor who is playing it, but in this movie the actors are unknown for us!

Godzilla was great. It wasn't as good as something like The Avengers...but most movies would be 'crappy' if that is your barometer. It was much better than the likes of The Amazing Spider-Man(1 or 2) and any of the Transformers movies.

Chris Groves on Jul 27, 2014

The transformers movies do suck either but we know they suck because Michael Bay sucks! But Michael Bay isn't a pretentious ass, he knows he is no Fincher, so problem solved!

Avi on Jul 27, 2014

So because Michael Bay acknowledges that he makes brainless films, it is okay? But Gareth Edwards makes a summer blockbuster that gets a much stronger critical reception than anything Bay has he is somehow pretentious and that makes his film crappy? You have a warped perspective on things.

Chris Groves on Jul 27, 2014

No ofcourse not! If we only agree that Godzilla is a overhyped movie we're okay!

Avi on Jul 27, 2014

Well, it wasn't, it was damn good. But I mean, I never let myself get 'over-hyped' or let my hype impact my judgement of a film. If it is good, it is good, if it isn't, it isn' doesn't matter how much 'hype' it had. Godzilla was a great summer movie, one of the best of the year.

Chris Groves on Jul 27, 2014

Than we disagree! Is oke!

Avi on Jul 27, 2014

Godzilla wasn't crappy. If you didn't like it that's your issue but you can't say it was bad. I fucking loved it.

Jon Odishaw on Jul 27, 2014

I can't say it was crappy? It was one big pile of cgi going nowhere with alot of noise and bad acting and plot holes! Brian Cranston is a overrated actor in a overhyped movie and specialy here on this site! O yeah is was crappy!

Avi on Jul 27, 2014

There's too much of a hard-on for this movie... I'm sure it'll be entertaining, but it's not going to be a guaranteed classic.

cobrazombie on Jul 27, 2014

Screw it, I'm going to watch this movie when it comes out.

And a just like that, a franchise is born!
