While the Oscars have their own awards for music in film for Best Original Score and Best Original Song, the major music awards The Grammys also like to honor the music of motion pictures as well. Over the weekend, the nominees for the 2015 awards were announced, and there are some solid nominations. Now since the qualifying window for music to be considered for the Grammys is different than the Oscars, you'll see contenders from films that were released both in 2013 and 2014. It's no surprise that Frozen got nods in all three relevant categories, but Gone Girl, Guardians of the Galaxy and more also got nominated.
Here are the relevant film related 2015 Grammy award categories and respective nominees (via LA Times):
Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media
American Hustle
Get On Up: The James Brown Story
Frozen
Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1
The Wolf of Wall Street
Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media
Frozen
Gone Girl
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Gravity
Saving Mr. Banks
Best Song Written for Visual Media
"Everything is Awesome!!!" - The LEGO Movie
"I See Fire" - The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
"I'm Not Gonna Miss You" - Glen Campbell, I'll Be Me
"Let It Go" - Frozen
"The Moon Song" - Her
It's absolutely fantastic to see "Everything is Awesome!!!" get a Grammy nomination, and I sincerely hope that the track from The LEGO Movie gets a nomination for Best Original Song at the Oscars this year too. It may not be as magnificent of a composition as "Let It Go" from Frozen, but it's far more infectious and, well, awesome. It's interesting to see Gone Girl and The Grand Budapest Hotel making the cut as 2014 films with scores in the running with a trio of releases from 2013. And there's no question that Awesome Mix Vol. 1 is one of the best soundtrack compilations ever put together for a film. These awards usually don't get announced on the air, but if you like music, the Grammys air next year on February 8th on CBS.

Guardians of the Galaxy is one of this year's most amazing movies and I watched the blu-ray disc when it came. By my Aurora blu-ray media player, I have enjoyed a great time.
