The great Hans is launching a concert series. A press release has officially announced that "Grammy, Golden Globe and Academy Award-winning" composer Hans Zimmer will kick off a concert series called Hans Zimmer Revealed in London this October, for two nights at the Eventim Hammersmith Apollo. Its a new trend to see more and more composers play concert series, with the likes of Clint Mansell, John Williams and Michael Giacchino performing sold out shows already. Next up is the one-and-only German composer Hans Zimmer, coming off of Winter's Tale and Amazing Spider-Man 2, not to mention Interstellar up next.
The concert event will be presented by Harvey Goldsmith at the Eventim Hammersmith Apollo on October 10th and 11th. In the show, Zimmer "will be accompanied by a band of brilliant players mixing traditional orchestral instruments with rock and electronica, and will be joined by a few surprise special guests. Hans Zimmer Revealed will serve as a non-traditional experience for concertgoers, with each piece presented with Zimmer's personal presentation style and include music from many of his film scores." If you've seen concerts for people like John Williams or Clint Mansell before, they operate with a similar idea, presenting music in their own style and their own way on stage. Here are the two quotes included about the concert:
"Performing a concert series like this is something that I have always wanted to do, and I am thrilled that that time has finally come," said Zimmer. "I am very excited to get some of my very talented friends together and give our audiences an experience unlike any concert they have ever been to before."
"I am honoured to have the opportunity to present Hans's concert series," stated Goldsmith. "Hans is a genius of our time, having thrilled millions of cinema goers with his amazing film scores. At last, Hans will reveal a collection of his finest scores to a live audience here in London."
Sounds like a can't-miss show. Notice that they keep referring to it as a "concert series", which makes me believe this might be touring around to other cities in the world. There's a listing for a Hans Zimmer concert in Montreal in late 2015. But the press release so far only includes details about the London event. The concert will be in two parts: the first being some of Zimmer's classic movie scores including Gladiator, The Lion King and Pirates of the Caribbean, and the second featuring re-imagined versions of classic scores such as The Dark Knight Trilogy and Inception with special guests from the rock and pop world. Tickets will be available here for London starting July 3rd. We'll keep watch for any other cities or more concerts.
If only I could go to this...sounds lovely.

The Ring and Ring Two had a fantastic score, with a very good eerie motif that would sound great from a live orchestra.

This will be a awesome show..............ummmm, minus The Amazing Spiderman 2. That one was one of his rare misses. And it was a big one.

Is there any confirmation at all regarding a North American concert? I'm debating going to London for this as my birthday present, but obviously, it is expensive! I don't want to miss out, but would prefer if it was in Montreal or the states...

I find it ridiculous, that none of these concerts, are ever here in Los Angeles/Hollywood....wouldn't it be quite obvious...grrrr
