The Hundred-Foot Journey Trailer

"You don't know when enough is enough!" "Enough of you!" Disney seems to be on a roll this year churning out feel-good, family-friendly movies involving Indian characters. Up first they have Million Dollar Arm, and following that they have this film, The Hundred-Foot Journey, starring Helen Mirren as a nasty French chef. In this one, Mirren's French restaurant is given a challenge when a passionate Indian family opens their own restaurant right across the street. Mirren stars as Madame Mallory, and Indian actors Om Puri and Manish Dayal star as father and son. This certainly does look like a family charmer, with a great cast and scenes on living passionately. I'm curious to check it out, and I hope it's as good as this promises.

Here's the first official trailer for Lasse Hallström's The Hundred-Foot Journey, originally from Yahoo:

A story about an Indian family that moves to a small village in the south of France and opens a restaurant across the street from a Michelin-starred French restaurant. The Hundred-Foot Journey is directed by acclaimed Swedish filmmaker Lasse Hallström (of What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Cider House Rules, Chocolat, The Shipping News, An Unfinished Life, The Hoax, Dean John, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, The Hypnotist, Safe Haven), from a screenplay written by Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things, Amazing Grace, Eastern Promises, Hummingbird, Closed Circuit, Locke). It's based on Richard C. Morais' book of the same name. Disney will release The Hundred-Foot Journey in theaters on August 8th this summer. Thoughts?

Wait, the actor who plays the father is Om Puri. ..not Manish Dayal.

Shoot, you're right. Apologies, slipped right by. Made a correction in the post to reflect this. Thank you.

Mirren sounded like she was flipping accents at some points. // The VO in the beginning was cringeworthy, but this looks pretty solid.
