It's Official: Stallone's 'Expendables 3' Disappointingly Rated PG-13

Briefly: Not too long ago, we got word that The Expendables 3, which has been touted as one final ride for the action franchise, would likely end up getting a PG-13 rating. However, that's something that Sylvester Stallone also mentioned with regards to the first and second films, and those both turned out to be R-rated. But this time, Stallone is a man of his word as ERC Box Office revealed on Twitter that The Expendables 3 has been rated PG-13 for "violence including intense sustained gun battles and fight scenes, and for language." So it sounds like the extreme violence will be toned down, and there's probably only on f-bomb thrown in there. Here's hoping the packed cast makes the sequel fun despite this one shortcoming.

Doesn't bother me. It's not like these are great movies anyway. Fun but forgettable. They don't even begin to touch these guys' old movies.

Well I will redbox this, you cannot pay homage to 1980s Hyper-Macho movies with a pg-13. WHy is such a great pitch idea so hard to pull off? I mean the first 2 were firmly planted in Mehsville.

It's not hard to pull off. Rent Crank, it's all the goodness without the All Star cast/reunion.

Wow I hope they double the cast for the next film, cause 16 people is not enough, maybe 22 would work better.

I thought they made the last one PG-13, or Chuck Norris wouldn't be in it. Rumor? Oh well. I don't need F-bombs, or any swearing really; but a romp-em stomp-em action movie does need its gratuitous violence. Maybe even a boobie or two. Especially a throwback/tribute to those 80s action films. Wasn't that the whole point of these? Oh it's a cash grab. Okay, that's why it barely lasted 3 movies. If done right they could've made a dozen movies with a small rotating cast, instead of tacking on 2 legends and a couple young kids "to appeal to younger adults". Oh well.

The PG is prove that Stallone is just a sell out. Period. If he really wanted to get all these guys in for real and pay homage he would've made SURE its rated R. And please, No, PG isn't the same and you do not get away with as much. Luckily, as the last 2 movies were beyond awful there isn't really any loss here since it makes the decision even easier to never watch this pile of shit.

The Pussies: no blood, no death, no cursing, no excitement, no storytelling - hitting theatres- lightly shoving theatres on August 15th.

The first was nostalgic for me, but the second was barely watchable for me; the dialogue is painful, with the exception of JCVD; he seemed to just wing the whole thing brilliantly. I'm a child of the 80's, and if you want me to pay higher ticket prices Sly, you gotta give me a great reason to see your flick vs. other films, Redbox, iPads, Xbox and so on. The 80's were more simple in entertainment. There are a lot more distractions for the movie industry and they haven't picked up slack. I find myself picking up Wal-Mart $9 independent dvd's than the $25 blu Ray Hollywood remakes and CG fests.

But on home video? Die Hard 4 had this problem, but was still a satisfying movie, and got all its fucks and shits intact when you watched at home.
