James McAvoy's Raunchy Crime Comedy 'Filth' Red Band US Trailer

Last year we got quite the raunchy tease for the crime comedy Filth starring James McAvoy since it was already released in the United Kingdom. Now the film is coming to the United States this spring, and a red band domestic trailer shows plenty more of McAvoy being dirty and despicable as a bipolar, corrupt, junkie cop. It's certainly much different than what we've seen McAvoy do before, and far removed from his turn as Charles Xavier in X-Men: Days of Future Past this summer. But is all the vulgarity a gimmick, or is there actually a solid flick here? You'll have to find out for yourself when the film gets released. Watch the trailer!

Here's the US red band trailer for Jon S. Baird's Filth, originally from IGN:

Filth is a crime comedy written & directed by up-and-comer Jon S. Baird (Green Street Hooligans, Cass) based on the novel by Irvine Welsh (of Trainspotting). The plot involves a bipolar bigoted junkie cop, who manipulates and hallucinates his way through the festive season in a bid to secure promotion and win back his wife and daughter. James McAvoy, Jamie Bell, Kate Dickie, Eddie Marsan and Imogen Poots all star. The film hit the UK last fall, and it finally hits VOD in the US on April 24th and limited theaters May 30th.

A little problematic and disturbing... count me in...

This movie has been online in torrents for the past 5 months.....

That's because it came out in the United Kingdom last year, as indicated in the article above. Otherwise, we don't care if a movie has been available illegally online, because that's true of almost every movie after it gets a theatrical release.

You'll enjoy it, but if you get the chance read the book, it's a lot madder. I actually began to like the character even though he's a maniac.

I did not expect much from this movie, but I can't urge you all enough to check it out. It is EXACTLY what it says on the cover. It is Filth, but it is fantastic.

It was OK... Obviously not Trainspotting good, but OK. It might be McAvoy's best acting role though.

One of my favourites of last year, tremendously messed up but McAvoy is stunning! Go see it at the cinema.
