Jamie Foxx & Kevin Hart Team Up for 'Black Phantom' Action Comedy
After teaming with rapper turned actor Ice Cube for Universal's buddy cop comedy Ride Along (and a forthcoming sequel), comedian Kevin Hart is getting ready to work with another hyphenate actor and singer. Variety reports Hart is in talks to join Jamie Foxx in an action comedy called Black Phantom set up at Screen Gems. The film would reunite even more of the Ride Along team with Tim Story in talks to direct and Will Packer producing the story about a hitman who is double-crossed and forced to enlist the help of another hitman called The Black Phantom, the same assassin hired to kill him in the first place.
It's not clear whether Foxx or Hart would play the title assassin, but it's a little difficult to imagine the latter as a legitimate killer. Of course, Screen Gems is eager to stay in business with Hart after their remake of About Last Night did so well at the box office last month. The comedian has been part of all the surprising box office performances by films featuring a predominantly African-American cast, which is great for diversity, but not great for people who don't like Kevin Hart (like myself). Anyway, when Foxx does comedy, it usually goes well, so maybe he can help make Hart tolerable. What do you think?
