Serena

After completing production in 2012, Susanne Bier's drama Serena has taken a long time to get to the big screen. Photos from the film surfaced online after shooting was done, and even more actually popped up earlier this year, but we've been waiting to hear when the film might actually get released. Well, the film starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper will finally hit theaters in the United Kingdom next month, and the first trailer from overseas has arrived. Set in North Carolin around the time of the Depression, a man (Cooper) struggles to maintain the future of his timber empire and things only get more complicated when he learns his wife (Lawrence) cannot bear children to continue his legacy. Watch below!

Here's the first UK trailer for Susanne Bier's Serena, originally from Yahoo UK:

Serena is directed by Oscar-winner Susanne Bier (In a Better World, Things We Lost in the Fire) from a screenplay by Christopher Kyle (Alexander) adapting Ron Rash's novel of the same name. The film follows newlyweds George (Bradley Cooper) and Serena Pemberton (Jennifer Lawrence) who travel from Boston to the mountains of North Carolina where they begin to build a timber empire in 1929. Together, this king and queen rule their dominion, killing or vanquishing all who stand in their way. But when Serena learns that she can never bear a child, she sets out to murder the woman who bore George a son before his marriage. Studio Canal Productions releases the film in the UK on October 24th, but there's no US release date yet.

That was a pretty good movie. Kinda short at only 2 minutes long, but I enjoyed it well enough.

Looks really good. Jennifer Lawrence clearly gives again a tour de force of a performance.

I guess. I think Hillary swank is giving a much better performance in "the homesman".

Well, I obviously haven't seen "Serena" to combare the two performances, but since I've seen "The Homesman", I have to say Hilary Swank is terrific in it. Totally Oscar-worthy.

Love both of these highly talented actors, but this trailer did not sell me one bit. Looks like it should premiere on Lifetime.

This will be "watch worthy". Have a look at Susanne Biers other films and you will know.
