With his latest indie effort Chef having just premiered at SXSW, Jon Favreau is looking to reteam with the buddy who helped launch his filmmaking career. Deadline has word that Favreau is getting back together with Vince Vaughn for the crime thriller Term Life at Universal. In the film Vaughn plays a man named Nick Barrow (Vaughn) who makes money planning heists and selling them to the highest bidder. But soon he finds himself chased down by mobsters, assassins and corrupt cops. Thinking of his estranged daughter (Hailee Steinfeld), he takes out a $1 million insurance policy on himself, payable to her. But there's a catch.
The insurance policy doesn't take effect for 21 days and Nick has to try and stay alive for those three weeks with his daughter by his side. It's not clear what role Favreau would play, but it would be cool to see him as a villain cashing after Vaughn instead of being one of his allies. It's a reunion of friends since Peter Billingsley (Couples Retreat) is directing the film, which is quite the change in genre for the former child star of A Christmas Story. But Billingsley likely learned a trick or two from producing Favreau's work on Iron Man, so it'll be interesting to see how he fares with this one. Thoughts?
