Julia Roberts Joins Chiwetel Ejiofor in 'Secret in Their Eyes' Remake
Back towards the beginning of the summer, 12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor and Iron Man franchise leading lady Gwyneth Paltrow signed on for the remake of the Argentinian thriller Secret in Their Eyes. The story, which changes things a bit from the original, follows a retired attorney who returns to Boston, obsessed with closing an unsolved murder case. It just so happens that his unrequited love for his superior is waiting for him there as he's writing a book about the whole scenario to end that chapter in his life. Now THR has learned that Julia Roberts has come on board the film in a rather interesting way. More below!
Roberts is taking a role that was originally meant for a male actor, but screenwriter Billy Ray (who is also directing the film) rewrote it for the actress. However, her specific role was not detailed in the report. Production was originally going to take place on location in Boston, but will instead take place in Los Angeles with shooting beginning next month. This won't actually be the first time Roberts has starred in a film with Paltrow, since the two both appeared in Steven Spielberg's Hook. They never shared the screen together though as Roberts played Tinkerbell and Paltrow played a young Wendy Darling. This will obviously be something much different, and with this cast, we're definitely on board.

Sounds good. Roberts needs a good comeback. Just not sure if this will do it.
