Following an Oscar nominated turn writing Bridesmaids, Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo are teaming up again on another comedy, but this time they will both write, produce and star in the film. The New York Times reports on the development of the untitled comedy that is set up at the new TriStar Productions, revived by former Fox head Tom Rothman, saying the movie follows "best friends who find themselves in over their heads and out of their depths, which were, perhaps, not too deep to begin with.” And this time, Wiig might be taking on some added responsibility, as this is expected to be her directing debut. Read on!
Wiig says, "I’ve been wanting to direct for some time now. This seems like the perfect first project.” And while the film is certainly a comedy, Rothman jokingly said, "Kristen and Annie assured me that the film will be a searing and depressing drama, which is what the world needs right now.” Wiig has proven to be one of the great comedic actresses out there right now, and Mumolo is better known behind the scenes, but she had a small role in Bridesmaids as the paranoid flyer who sat next to Wiig on the plane headed to Vegas for a failed bachelorette party. Having them team-up in lead roles in a comedy they write and produce themselves hopefully results in another hit full of big laughs. Sound good?

Good on these two ladies. They should make a fine pairing.
