After dabbling in heavy dramas like The Butler and Precious, along with the peculiar The Paperboy, director Lee Daniels is heading into a completely different genre. Deadline has word that Daniels is set to direct Demon House, a fact-based possession thriller inspired by Latoya Ammons and her family, who claim to have been the victims of a real demonic possession that began two years ago and is still impacting them to this day. As with any good "true" story like this, it comes with interesting details corroborated by the Department of Child Services, police department and various hospital staff in Gary, Indiana. More below!

The terror haunting the Ammons family began in their home with swarms of flies being attracted to her porch in the middle of winter, along with typical creaking sounds on the basement. Eventually, things got scarier when the oldest daughter in the family reportedly levitated above her bed. In addition, medical staff witnessed the middle son of the family gliding backwards on the floor, wall and ceiling. That sounds scary as hell. Oh, and as for child services, they witnessed the youngest son growling, baring his teeth and rolling his eyes back in his head while choking his older brother. But he had no memory of doing it. Sounds intense, and I'm curious to see how Daniels fares with the material.

Daniels is proven his worth at directing drama. Horror shouldn't be too much of a leap for him. I'll be staying tuned to this one.

Daniels is unafraid to inject controversial/tasteless material into his films so Horror fans can at least expect an R-rated Horror film. Whatever cliches may exist in it as a story of possession I am willing to bet that Lee's oddball qualities will throw viewers for a loop at least half of the time.

It sounds like they should have filmed some of this "evidence". I believe The Amazing Randi is still offering a $1 million reward for any evidence of paranormal activity.
