The HBO series "Boardwalk Empire" may be over, but so is the cable network's series "Entourage," and that's getting a revival on the big screen coming this summer. And it sounds like the the producer of both aforementioned shows, Mark Wahlberg, wants to give the big screen treatment to his period gangster property as well. Speaking with NJ.com (via Movies.com), Wahlberg indicated that he's hoping to get a "Boardwalk Empire" movie off the ground, and he wants the show's producer Martin Scorsese to direct it. That's sounds like a tall order, even for the action star who played an inventor and professor this year.
Of course, Scorsese directed the pilot for the series, so he already has done some work behind the camera in addition to his run as executive producer while the series was still going. But Scorsese isn't a young guy, so surely he's getting a little more picky about the films he takes time out of his life to direct, and if he's already satisfied with how "Boardwalk Empire" turned out, then he may not want to go back. Plus, (spoilers ahead for people not caught up on the show), it might be hard to do a movie since the main character, Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi), was killed at the end of the show. But as we've learned countless times, that just means you can do a prequel story. But we'll see if this even happens. Thoughts?
