McConaughey, Blanchett & 'American Hustle' Win 2014 SAG Awards
Things are heating up in the awards race this year. The 2014 Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony was broadcast live from Los Angeles last night, and the winners have been announced. The SAG awards are a strong precursor for the Oscars at least in the acting categories. We have the official list of all the motion picture winners (for everything else including television, head to SAGAwards.org) which include American Hustle taking home Best Ensemble. I won't say these are completely expected wins, but it is a tough race this year and it seems these few are the big ones now leading the way. Will they all take home Oscars next?

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD:
So there you have it. Despite receiving the most nominations, Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave only took home one win, given to Lupita Nyong'o who played Patsey. However, I would argue that 12 Years a Slave should've won the Best Ensemble award, not American Hustle (why?!) but alas, I'm not a SAG member and that's what they voted for. As much as I enjoyed all of the other performances, I will say I'm fine with Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey winning, because they're both damn good in Dallas Buyers Club. But the film itself isn't that good. Anyway, congratulations to all of the winners and nominees of 2013. Thoughts?

I was very happy to see Cranston and McConaughey win...just that much more credibility and notoriety they'll be bringing to their blockbuster appearances later this year in Godzilla and Interstellar, respectively. It'll be even better if McConaughey wins the Oscar for Best Actor this year.

the screening of the movie was not possible for the SAG guys due to editing...therefore TWOWS was not nominated for the SAG just like Django last year
