Melissa McCarthy is a Sloppy Mess in UK Trailer for 'Tammy' Comedy

Could this be the film where America falls out of love with Melissa McCarthy? We've seen plenty of footage from Tammy in the previous domestic trailer and more recent TV spot, but this new trailer from the UK shows off even more from the comedy arriving just before the 4th of July weekend. But the more I see of this film, the less interested I get. There's far too much stupid slapstick with McCarthy just being a bumbling, messy idiot. The rough around the edges persona is something we've already seen her do in Bridesmaids and The Heat, and there's just nothing promising on display here. Don't be surprised if this bombs at the box office, or at least sees a steep decline from opening weekend over the holiday. Watch now!

Tammy is directed by Ben Falcone, who also co-wrote the script with wife Melissa McCarthy, playing the title character. Tammy has totaled her clunker car, gotten fired from her job at a greasy burger joint, and finds her husband getting comfortable with the neighbor in her own house. It's time to take her boom box and book it. But since she's broke without a car, her grandma, Pearl (Susan Sarandon), is her only option—with a car, cash, and an itch to see Niagara Falls. Allison Janney, Gary Cole, Mark Duplass, Toni Collette, Nat Faxon, Dan Aykroyd and Kathy Bates also star in the film Warner Bros. is releasing July 2nd.

Glad it's not just me. I mean how long can you play the same character over and over? "Bridesmaids and The Heat"? It's just Bridesmaids again and again. Get annoyed with actors who can't break out of a single character-mold (Katherine Heigl, Jason Statham etc.). It's wash-rinse-repeat. But in McCarthy's case that's more sad because she very talented.

Jason Statham is a bad ass character. But Melissa McCarthy is just annoying. I didn't like The Heat, or Bridesmaids.. they both sucked.
