We've featured some great artwork recently playing tribute to films like Alien and Pulp Fiction, not to mention holiday favorites like Home Alone and It's a Wonderful Life. Now Turkish artist Murat Palta has paid tribute to some iconic movies, both new and old, in a very unique style. Palta has used the historical Ottoman (also called miniature) painting style to illustrate films like Star Wars, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, A Clockwork Orange, Inception and more. They're impressive, detailed, and are even depicted in the past, exchanging cars for horses and carts, lightsabers for flaming swords. Look below!
Here's some of Murat Palta's miniature versions of films from his Behance page:
See these and more in much better close-up detail on Murat Palta's Behance page.
Palta created these pieces for his graduation thesis, and he explains, "It all started 2 years ago with an experiment to blend traditional ‘oriental’ (Ottoman) motifs and contemporary ‘western’ cinema. After a positive response to 'Ottoman Star Wars,' I decided to take the theme further, and developed more film posters using the same technique. Combining global with local, traditional with contemporary, and adding a bit of humor made it a fun and rewarding experience for me." Palta got high marks for his work, and we're sure there's plenty of film fans who will appreciate these fantastic interpretations too. Cool work, right?
