A Most Violent Year

"When it feels scary to jump, that is exactly when you jump." So far, we've only gotten a single first look photo from A Most Violent Year, the latest film directed by J.C. Chandor, who last was at the helm of All is Lost. But now we finally get a good look at the film by way of a teaser trailer, along with the announcement of an awards qualifying release in NY and LA at the end of the year. The film starring Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac is set during one of the most violent years in The Big Apple's history, following an immigrant family trying to expand their business and capitalize on opportunities amid violence, decay and corruption. There's definitely a Godfather vibe at work and it looks great. Watch below!

Here's the first trailer for J.C. Chandor's A Most Violent Year from A24:

A Most Violent Year

A Most Violent Year is written and directed by J.C. Chandor (All is Lost, Margin Call). Set during the winter of 1981 -- statistically one of the most crime-ridden of New York City’s history -- the film follows the lives of an immigrant and his family as they attempt to capitalize on the American Dream, while the rampant violence, decay, and corruption of the day drag them in and threaten to destroy all they have built. Jessica Chastain, Oscar Isaac, Albert Brooks and David Oyelowo star in the film that A24 sends to New York and Los Angeles on December 31st and will expand wide to more theaters throughout January 2015. Good?

I don't think that preview looked that great. But I'll assume that's just a bad trailer and I'm still excited to see it. Love the cast.
