Must Watch: Second Action-Packed 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Trailer

May 19, 2014

Guardians of the Galaxy

Following an awesome new poster last week, the new trailer for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy has arrived, and this looks like one hell of a way to end the summer in August. Many were skeptical that a film in space with a talking raccoon and a giant tree as heroes would work, even with Marvel behind the project, but this looks fantastic. We finally get to hear Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Chris Pratt looks like a certified badass, Zoe Saldana looks sexy even in green, Dave Bautista is ripped and Groot is just Groot. We're sold, but will general audiences be on board by the time the film arrives this summer? Watch below!

Here's the second trailer for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy, direct from Facebook:

Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn (Slither, Super). Brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits — Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand. The Marvel Studios film arrives in theaters August 1st, 2014.

this is one superhero movie i want to see, normally dont like them but this one looks great, doesnt take it self to serious and looks like perfect blend of action and giggles which is what action movies should be in my opinion. compare old superman to new superman as an example.

arthurcucumber on May 19, 2014

Oh my lord in heaven give me strength. This guy again. I haven't seen a single marvel movie that took itself too seriously. Iron man is a walking sarcastic joke cracker, the Avengers was hilarious, Thor is so oblivious it's a riot. Have you seen any super hero movies? Or are you just trying to use the word "giggles" again?

Jon Odishaw on May 19, 2014

I was trying to figure out a way to tag you in a response to his comment Jon, lol.

JBrotsis on May 19, 2014

Don't worry, if he posts I will find him haha

Jon Odishaw on May 20, 2014

One more up-vote from me.

Rock n Rollllll on May 19, 2014

I'm sure it'll be a giggle fest

This looks insanely fun!

Daniel_Plainview_Milkshake on May 19, 2014

Sick. Just purely SICK!

JBrotsis on May 19, 2014

That face mask looks pretty badass.

Xerxexx on May 19, 2014

I'm hooked on a feeling...that this movie will be good for me!

Quanah on May 19, 2014

This is how pure awesomeness looks like! I can't wait to see this, looks so much fun! Marvel should be praised for trying something like this.

Ricardo_PT on May 19, 2014

This may turn out to be more fun than I originally thought...

SteadyEddieTX on May 19, 2014

Am I missing something here? This looks corny as hell. Kind of like Green Lantern but with a raccoon. Is it supposed to be like this? Have never never read the comic. Just wondering what is the taget audience?

Alex on May 19, 2014

People who like comic books, action movies, sarcasm and general badassary? Pretty much everyone who visits this website.

Jon Odishaw on May 19, 2014

Me. That's who.

Zer0 on May 19, 2014

If you knew the source material, or could at least see that this comic and subsequent movie does not take itself too seriously, you would appreciate it more like the fans are. But, the only similarity between this and Green Lantern is the Nova Corps is the galactic police. Other than that this movie is what Green Lantern wishes it could be using 100 genie lamps.

BoiledPNutz on May 19, 2014

There's no denying that the Raccoon is going to draw in kids because he's funny and cute, but adults are going to like him because he's a murderous psycho path who's catchphrase is "BLAM! I JUST MURDERED YOU!"

Kento on May 19, 2014

One time I saw this really cheesy trailer. It had people fighting with laser swords, an effeminate robot and a seven foot tall thing that looked like somebody walking around with my grandmother's carpet all over him. I wish I could remember what it was called but with crap like that I'm sure it bombed.

Guest on May 19, 2014

Parent should definitely not be taking kids to see this, cute raccoon or not. Marvel movies are not for children. Although I absolutely loved Cap 2, I hated that I had to watch it next to a dad and his 5 year old. Completely inappropriate. I've got a 7 year old boy and he'll just have to wait until he's old enough even though many of his friends are seeing films like these. Not sure what the rush is to expose children to violence on screen. End rant. : )

David Diaz on May 20, 2014

hey thanks for speaking for all the parents out there. How is this any more violent or worse than Star Wars? The fact of the matter is, when I said kids I meant like 10-17. I'm 30... I think anyone under 21 is a kid... lol

Kento on May 20, 2014

Your welcome. And thanks for clarifying your definition of a kid. I'm 33. But are we really that old that kids are anyone under 21? It's funny and sad at the same time. LOL. Personally, 11 or 12ish is probably when I'll start allowing my son to see Marvel films. I just can't stand seeing little kids at these movies. The worst was seeing a family with a little girl that couldn't have been older than 4 or 5 in Ninja Assassin! Really?!!

Christopher Roberts on May 19, 2014

Hey, c'mon man, I loved Starcrash.

denverchris on May 19, 2014

Tom Cruise is not THAT affeminate....

TheOct8pus on May 20, 2014

Everyone is the target audience. Even Mark Millar over at WB/DC Movies has stated that he wants to watch. Overall I would say that you are in the minority of skeptics, and no it is not like Green Lantern that movie was not in space for about 90% of the film and took itself way too serious even when it was being overly stupid. Just think of it as Avengers in space or as Marvel's rendition of Star Wars.

Fidel Reyes on May 19, 2014

whoever has been choosing the songs to use in the trailers is quite possibly the world's most powerful genius. on a side note, i'm really surprised that Rocket does't have an accent.

Astroboy3000 on May 19, 2014

Yeah when I read him in the comics it's always as a Jason Statham type.

Kento on May 19, 2014

Music made that trailer!

EmagSamurai on May 19, 2014

you make this 25 years ago and Kurt Russell is the only choice for Starlord

Astroboy3000 on May 19, 2014

Kurt Russell would be perfect

Ed Blount on May 19, 2014

Yeah he would have. 25 years ago. 🙂

Sascha Dikiciyan on May 19, 2014

In 89? Clearly that would be either Kurt Russell or Bruce Willis. Or maybe Michael Dudikoff if you are feeling particularly low budget.

denverchris on May 19, 2014

I can't not see this. I hope it flops like John Carter.

Captain Omniscient on May 19, 2014

Stop trying to be a downer d-bag. This movie looks like a blast.

Kento on May 19, 2014

I can't comment negatively on a movie you like out of spite.

JBrotsis on May 19, 2014

Is there any skin color Zoe Saldana doesn't look good in? This movie looks too dope to wait for!

Zer0 on May 19, 2014

Looks like a great summer movie, bring it!

Ed Blount on May 19, 2014

I was seeing this anyway, but definitely seeing it now.

Carpola on May 19, 2014

Sweet emotions!!!~

DAVIDPD on May 19, 2014

I really think it looks like pure fun. Doesn't take itself too serious and thats good. Also, the visuals look rather good. I really hope this will not flop if its any good.

Sascha Dikiciyan on May 19, 2014

Must…Not…Watch…Trailer. Don't want anything spoiled.

IamSlave on May 19, 2014

SO psyched for this movie. The first trailer got me intrigued enough to read some of the current Marvel NOW run, and now I can't wait to read more and for this movie to come out!

Blake on May 19, 2014

I wanted to hear the Uga-Chaka chant haha, but I am still loving this movie's trailers!

Fidel Reyes on May 19, 2014

The chant is in the first trailer.

David Diaz on May 20, 2014

I never said it wasn't included in the first trailer... I just meant that it would have been cool to hear it again.

Fidel Reyes on May 21, 2014

Oh ok. Just thought maybe you hadn't seen the first trailer.

David Diaz on May 21, 2014

Why would they use that music for the trailer?? It in no way makes me want to see the movie. Using oldies songs on a trailer for a movie set in outer space makes absolutely no sense... I really hope that isnt how the soundtrack will be. Who made this movie? A 60 year old?

Ryan on May 19, 2014

Did you watch the previous trailer? Quill (Star-Lord) listens to music on cassettes (also has a cassette stereo on his ship in this trailer). It's his music. The character, that is. Makes perfect sense in that regard.

Quanah on May 19, 2014

You're an idiot. Those songs are from Star Lord's mix tape from when he grew up on Earth in the 80's. Stop being an idiot.

davidshaw on May 19, 2014

I'm into it. Looks fun, adventurous, quirky, and action packed. Can't wait to enjoy this in the theater.

Quanah on May 19, 2014

The more I pay attention to this movie, the more I want to see it. And I love James Gunn. Yes, I am now very excited to see this.

grimjob on May 19, 2014

Although I'm worried that I might be becoming superhero & superdestruction fatigued (there's only so many times I can see buildings topple with no consequence), I do like James Gunn and this could be pretty entertaining. I just hope it has the confidence to be a little edgy rather than being shackled by a need to be all things to all people.

Payne by name on May 20, 2014

Can't believe I've gone from "meh" when I first heard about this to "must watch" 🙂 Chris Pratt plays it very well; I'm not going to do any further research on the Guardians so I can go into the film unprepared 🙂

Michael Kingscott on May 20, 2014

I'd love it if I was 10...but all I see is a disney cartoon made into a movie

dawko on May 20, 2014

But its not a cartoon...

Xerxexx on May 20, 2014

Knowhere looks amazing! So glad they showed that; our first glimpse of a Celestial in this Marvel U,albeit a dead one. I wonder if they'll meet Cosmo there? "I am Groot" sounded awesome.

David Diaz on May 20, 2014

This is going to be one of the most succesful franchises in film history; looks like the perfect mix of action and fun!
