'Neighbors' Writers Set Up Slasher Horror Comedy 'Thrill Ride' at Fox
The writing and producing duo of Andrew Jay Cohen & Brendan O'Brien delivered one hell of a great comedy this past summer with Neighbors, starring Seth Rogen and Zac Efron. Now the two are poised to make their feature film directorial debut with a horror comedy called Thrill Ride. This time, Cohen and O'Brien didn't write the script, with Peter Warren (who will also produce the film) working on the pages, and this sounds like a really cool idea. Described as being in the same vein as Scream and This is The End, the story takes place at a theme park where students from a nearby high school start dying elaborately.
Deadline says the film begins at a cruel high school where bullying is just something that gets ignored. The seniors are planning their annual party night by renting out an amusement park for the class, and that's where they all end up in extreme danger as the exits are sealed and a killer is on the loose turning the rides into death traps. It seems to only be the bullies and bad kids getting what's coming to them, but all the kids, no matter what clique they're in, must band together in order to survive. Sounds like it could be a bloody fun flick for Fox, though it's not clear when this project will get off the ground yet. Stay tuned for more.
Could be good.
